The Westside Connection area is sometimes referred to as the Upper Westside since it is Grand Rapids’ westernmost neighborhood. Westside Connection is a Grand Rapids neighborhood with a population of 19,948 people. Homeowners of Westside Connection enjoy a thick suburban vibe, with the majority of residents owning their houses. There are several pubs, restaurants, and parks in Westside Connection. Westside Connection is a conservative neighborhood with a lot of young professionals and seniors. Located only 10 minutes west of downtown Grand Rapids, this area gives convenient access to the rest of the city. Westside Connection also has excellent schools such as Holy Spirit School and West Side Christian School, as well as numerous teaching positions. Furthermore, Westside Connection offers a wide range of housing alternatives, from affordable flats to big brick ranches. At The Highlands, you may bike across three miles of trails, plant trees, or attend yoga sessions. At Covell Dog Park, introduce your dog to a new buddy and let them run off some energy. At the adjacent John Ball Zoo, see creatures from all around the world, including red pandas and ring-tailed lemurs. At Sandy’s Donuts, start your day with a Peanut Butter Honeymooner, a Lemon Raspberry doughnut, or one of the eight types of mouthwatering Paczki. From Westsider Cafe, get a full meal like a Philly Cheesesteak Skillet or Potato Pancakes. Mr. Burger serves up some of Grand Rapids’ greatest burgers, including the iconic Mr. Burger, Gyro, and Tuna Melt. The Latin House serves Latin meals including Bistek A Caballo, Carne Asada, and Pickada. At Westside Social American Tavern, you may relax with a craft brew and a Smoked Chicken Mac. Sullivan Field is one of the area’s highlights. Valley Field was established in 1937 using funds from the Works Progress Administration (WPA) to rehabilitate the area into an athletic field. Local baseball teams, like the American Seating Company’s Seaters, call it home. The facility was renamed Sullivan Field in 1996, in honor of Bob Sullivan, a longstanding local amateur baseball booster and entrepreneur. Today, the City of Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation Department and Friends of Grand Rapids Parks manages a baseball diamond with a grandstand and bathroom facilities on roughly 5-10 acres. Visit the Blandford Nature Center for extra outdoor fun, and don’t forget to visit the farm while you’re there. This 246-acre natural preserve is committed to assisting adults and children in learning via hands-on activities rather than classroom instruction. The preserve currently includes the old Highlands Golf Club, which was purchased in 2017. Siciliano’s Market is a terrific location to go if you’re looking for a special combination of spirits, beer, wine, coffee, or tea.
